Embark on an adventurous whitewater rafting experience through the dynamic Rocher Fendu rapids on the Ottawa River. In our most popular 12 person Big Boat, you’ll paddle, splash, and roll down one of the world’s great whitewater routes. You have an experienced and passionate guide controlling the raft using oars at the back. You’ll get a chance to body surf and float, and possibly do some cliff jumping too: it’s up to the river! All participants are required to paddle.

All of OWL’s rafting trips include a river pontoon cruise back to the resort at the end of the day. Put on your dry clothes and feast on a freshly prepared grilled buffet while you enjoy a scenic ride back to the resort. Once on dry land, your guides will show a video presentation where you can relive your day’s adventure!

On your second day you get full access to the OWL Resort, choose your own activity or relax for the day on the beach. Play a round of frisbee golf, a game of beach volleyball, or try your luck at horseshoes. The resort is not a licensed establishment so our guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages. Ice cream, snacks, cold drinks and ice are available for sale on site. We also boast a large floating swim dock with slide, a disc golf course, volleyball courts and a hot sauna.

Common Itinerary

This is our most common schedule. Your itinerary may vary from this. Please check your invoice for your arrival time.

Check in at the Office. Everyone in your group must come into the office upon arrival to sign a waiver. Please note that dinner is not included on the night of arrival: you can bring meals with you, book an additional meal before arrival, or eat on the road. Check in begins at 5:00 PM; please NO arrivals before this time
First Night’s Overnight Stay. Find a spot in one of our campgrounds and set up your tent. Venture down to our sandy beach before dark for a paddle or swim. Relax fireside in the main pavilion with board games or a film in the lounge. Pop into our office to borrow frisbees, horseshoes, volleyballs and more, available to help you make the most of our facility.
Start the day off right with a hot buffet style breakfast served at 8:00 AM. Each day OWL’s Kitchen Crew serves a fresh hearty meal to prepare you for a full day to come. You may find bacon or breakfast sausages, hash browns or home fries, scrambled or fried eggs, or another home-style breakfast option: menus vary from day to day, so we cannot guarantee availability of all listed options at each meal. All breakfasts will have fresh fruit, cereal, toast & toppings, and juice, coffee & tea.

Rafting Briefing

Your day of High Adventure Rafting starts at the OWL Resort with an orientation that gives you a preview of the day. Collect your helmet, lifejacket and paddle and get ready to go.

Shuttle to Put-In

The bus will depart promptly at 10:00 AM. Please ensure you have dropped your car keys at the office and put your dry clothes in the duffel bags before jumping on the bus.

Get Wet

After a short shuttle to the starting point, you meet your guide. You climb into your raft and your guide will take you through some on-water instructions that teach you how to paddle and work together. Once everyone has received a safety briefing, we descend down our first rapid, the legendary McCoy’s! Smile for the camera: along the way a photographer will meet you on the river to capture a snapshot of you rafting.

During the lower water season we love to surf! This is when we turn the rafts around to catch some river waves. This leaves us totally wet and anticipating more rapids! Whitewater alternates with flat water: you’ll have the chance to swim and float in between the adrenaline rush of the rapids.

Midday Snack

Trip B has a late lunch, so to keep you going we provide a small snack. You may get to cliff jump during this break, depending on water levels.

More Rapids

After snack, you have the energy to challenge more rapids. If you’re rafting on the Middle channel, you’ll run the awe-inspiring Garvin’s with its stunning drop. On the Main channel, the second half of the day features Hair and the mighty Coliseum. At high water, Coliseum is the largest commercially rafted rapid in Eastern North America. Water features and the channel we raft depend on the water levels, but you’ll have a great time no matter what the level is.
At the bottom of the rapids, meet OWL Rafting’s signature Pontoon Boats. Once you hop aboard the pontoon boats, you will find your dry clothes or towels and a hot BBQ lunch waiting for you. Enjoy your hearty meal as you cruise back to the OWL Resort

Back at the Resort

Once back at the OWL Resort, please return your life jackets, paddles, and helmets to the gear loft before joining us at the beach for your last workout of the day, the “Beach Party”, as we put away your rafts.

Rafter Wrap Up

Once the Beach Party is over, get changed before meeting back in the pavilion for the video replay of your day. Our guides will meet you to watch the fun all over again.
Dinner will be ready at the ring of the bell at 6:30 PM. Head down to the pavilion for an open-air grilled steak dinner, with dinner rolls, baked potatoes, corn on the cob, garden salad, and hot apple crumble and ice cream for dessert. Stuffed peppers are available for registered vegetarians.
Head back to your campsite or hang out in the pavilion by the fire. Recount the day and get ready for a day of resort fun tomorrow.

Day 2 is similar to Day 1 starting with Breakfast.

Stay and Relax

The OWL Resort has a variety of activities to try your hand at. Pop into our office for some Frisbees and play a round on the Frisbee Golf course. Borrow the horseshoes and compete for first place at the horseshoe pits. Put your bathing suit on and head to the beach. OWL’s sandy beach has kayaks, canoes, stand up paddle boards and more for you to use. Make your way to the swim dock or sunbathe on the beach chairs. Your resort day is yours to fill with all that the OWL Resort has to offer.

Lunch at the Resort

Don’t stray too far… the lunch bell will ring to call you back to the pavilion for a BBQ lunch. Lunch includes 3 salads, a hot BBQ item and toppings, fruit, drinks, and cookies for dessert.
Bring your own bikes and try out OWLs pump track or head up the road to check out Beachburgs extensive trail system. Round up some friends and start a volleyball game on one of the many beach volleyball courts. Looking for a slower pace? Check out the movies in the lounge or the board games in the pavilion. The pigs and chickens love a visit, pop up after lunch time and you may see them at their lunch time chowing down. If the weather is cooler bring some marsh mellows and make s’mores on the fire or head to the sauna and showers to relax in the heat.
Head into our Boutique to pick up a souvenir or purchase a copy a video from your rafting day. Grab a coffee before hitting the road. OR Hang out a little longer. The sauna, hot outdoor showers, and beachfront are free for you to use before departing in your own time.
