Dirk, Claudia and Family invite you to experience an authentic Canadian tradition: Paddling! Paddle your own Canoe or Kayak, or be guided in a Raft down Ontario’s historic highways: the rivers. Our two locations are an hour’s drive apart. Both wilderness resorts provide a Natural River experience to our guests and help them fall in love with our wild rivers.

Both OWL Rafting and MKC are Canadian Signature Experiences.

OWL Rafting on the Ottawa River  Enjoy the Ride! OWL’s High Adventure Trip offers our guests a full day on the famous Rocher Fendu rapids of the Ottawa River.  The 6-hour trip is complemented by a freshly grilled hearty BBQ meal aboard our Pontoon Boat that meets you after the last rapid for the return cruise to the OWL Resort.  Family Raft Tours start further downstream, where your raft is guided down the gentler sections, and are 4 hours long.  This tour also joins our Pontoon Boat for a BBQ meal at the end of each trip.  OWL’s 25 acre Lakeside Resort is the hub of all our activities.  Come relax, stay overnight, and take advantage of: sandy beachfront, kayaks, canoes, pedal boats, SUPs, a disc golf course, and our new pumptrack.  We offer our guests overnight stays at our peaceful waterfront campground or in rustic cabins. We have just added two beachside en-suite cabanas to our accommodation options.

Madawaska River Family Rafting is operated by the Madawaska Kanu Centre, located in Barry’s Bay, Ontario. This 2-hour fun-filled raft tour is for families or groups with children as young as 2 years old, and allows guests to experience the beautiful scenery and tumbling whitewater in the Algonquin Park area. Our skilled raft guides will introduce our guests to the river world, just like the Voyageurs who navigated the Madawaska River hundreds of years ago. Tours operate June until the end of August, Monday through Thursdays regularly at 10am, 12, 2pm.  Special Group package with lunch available upon request.  Maximum capacity:  150 pax per day, 50 pax per tour. Free bus parking.

Madawaska Kanu Centre (MKC), started in 1972 by Claudia’s parents, is the ‘place to go’ for paddlers and visitors to learn and improve their paddling whitewater skills and to start an unforgettable journey.  MKC is the first commercial whitewater paddling school in the world,  modeled after the Alpine ski-school concept and built upon a foundation of classes for all abilities, ages, great food, and an atmosphere that lets our guests immerse themselves in our natural setting.  The Madawaska River was selected for its guaranteed white water releases throughout the summer and its natural hardwood forest shoreline.  MKC is a remote Wilderness Resort with comfortable amenities provided by the Main Chalet, Post’n Beam Dining Room, Log Sauna, and indoor and outdoor shower facilities.  Accommodation options include private Cabanas, Lodge and Dorm rooms, and Camping.

Packages available for an introductory 3-hour Canoeing 101, or a Weekend or Week-long immersion.  The most popular package is Canoe or Kayak Canada’s Rivers, which embraces you in a truly Canadian experience.  Maximum capacity: 45 pax per package.  Children 9-16 must be accompanied by a Parent or Guardian.

The Canadian Canoe Route is the quintessential Canadian experience.  Connecting Toronto with our Nation’s Capital, it combines all 3 of our river products and partners with the Canadian Canoe Museum and Algonquin First Nations for a flexible itinerary for a driving or RV tour.
